Hello,

I guess you know by now that this is “thePBLsite.com”, bad name I know but you try finding a better one! What you may not know is how it all started- this site is the product of my eternal frustration with the way that medicine is taugtht in the 21st century, yeah that’s right, it really isn’t 1931 anymore.

Given 4 weeks of SSM time by my University to look at how medicine is taught on the internet and come up with my own way of doing things this is the result- it’s still rough around the edges but heres my mission statement:

ThePBLsite will ALWAYS be:

• A provider of resources to optimise studying (allowing more time for alcohol!), by which I mean:
  • Videos-explaining topics and demonstrating clinical skills
  • Guides- to help show where you could be saving time and effort
  • Tools and resources- to make life easier
• Open to discussions
  • There will always be somewhere to dicuss the contents of the site
• A place for collaboration
  • No more torturing yourself trying to find a good resource
  • Users can share what they have found
  • Anybody can ask for help
  • …and we will always be as open as possible to users
• Open to criticism and advice
  • The more the better- tell me what you think
